Article 3. Qualifying Entrance Examinations
3.1. General Provisions
In the Department of Performing and Digital Arts (DPDA), the procedure is conducted in accordance with Ministerial Decision No. Φ.2/121871/Β3/3-11-2005 “Admission of Graduates to Higher Education,” as amended by subsequent Ministerial Decisions and Law 4485/2017.
-
Timing & Content: Examinations are held annually in December. Candidates are examined in three (3) subjects. The syllabus is announced by the Provisional Assembly and is valid only for the current academic year; both subjects and syllabi are subject to annual change.
-
Quotas: The admission quota for graduates (from domestic or recognized foreign Universities, TEI, ASPAITE, or higher professional schools) is set at 12% of the total number of annual entrants.
-
Rounding: Decimal figures in the quota are rounded to the nearest integer. If the decimal is exactly 0.5, it is rounded up.
-
Selection: Selection is based exclusively on written development exams. In the event of a tie for the final available position, the grade of the candidate's first degree is considered. If a tie persists, a draw is conducted. Over-quota admissions are strictly prohibited.
3.2. Required Documents & Examination Period
Examinations take place between December 1st and 20th. The schedule is announced at least eight (8) days prior to the first exam. Applications must be submitted from November 1st to 15th.Required Documents:
-
Application Form.
-
Copy of Degree or certificate of completion. For foreign degrees, a certificate of equivalence from DOATAP is mandatory.
-
Detailed Transcript: Required if the degree grade is not numerically indicated on the diploma.
3.3. Selection of Examination Topics
Two hours prior to each exam, the Examination Committee meets to propose topics. The two members specializing in the subject propose at least six (6) topics. The Committee selects three (3) from these, and a final draw is held to select the one (1) topic to be distributed to candidates.
3.4. Examination Conduct & Regulations
-
Identification: Candidates must present a national ID or official passport.
-
Attendance: Candidates must arrive 60 minutes early on the first day and 30 minutes early on subsequent days.
-
Materials: Only blue or black ink is permitted. Any identifying marks on the script will lead to disqualification.
-
Prohibited Items: Books, notebooks, and all electronic devices/mobile phones are strictly forbidden in the examination hall.
-
Academic Integrity: Any attempt at cheating, copying, or improper conduct results in immediate exclusion from the examination.
-
Anonymity: Candidates' personal details are checked and then covered (masked) upon submission to ensure objective grading.
-
Finality: Re-examination or re-evaluation of the scripts is not permitted. Exam papers are kept for one year after the results are announced and are then destroyed.
3.5. Grading & Rank of Success
-
Grading Scale: 0 to 20. Each script is marked by two (2) examiners. The final grade per subject is the average of the two marks.
-
Review/Re-grading: If the discrepancy between the two markers is six (6) units or more, the script is evaluated by a third reviewer. The final grade is then the average of the third marker’s score and the closer of the original two scores.
-
Minimum Requirements: To be eligible for admission, a candidate must achieve a total score of at least 30 units across all three subjects, with a minimum of 10 units in each individual subject.
-
Ranking: Candidates are ranked in descending order of total score until the quota is filled.
3.6. Course Exemptions (Credit Transfer)
Graduates may be admitted up to the 5th semester of study. By decision of the Provisional Assembly, admitted students may be exempted from courses or exercises in the DPDA curriculum that they have already successfully completed during their previous degree, provided the content is deemed sufficient.
-
Automatic Exemption: Students are automatically exempted from the three subjects in which they were tested for the qualifying examinations, provided these correspond to courses within the current DPDA curriculum
