WHEN TO APPLY FOR DOCTORAL STUDIES AT THE DEPT. OF PERFORMING AND DIGITAL ARTS (UoP)

Those interested may apply to commence to the Secretariat of the Department of Performing and Digital Arts to work on a PhD Thesis throughout the academic year (October and February) after consultation and approval of the proposed supervising faculty member of the Department of Performing and Digital Arts, School of Arts, UoP.

THE APPLICATION MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

A. Proposed title of Doctoral Thesis

  • Title of the proposal for doctoral research at the Department of Performing and Digital Arts.

B. The language in which the PhD Thesis will be written

  • The main language of the PhD Thesis is Greek. It is possible for the thesis to be written in a language other than Greek with the agreement of the proposed supervisor and upon request of the potential doctoral candidate to the General Assembly, in which he/she will explain the reasons for writing in this language (e.g., mother tongue, language of undergraduate and postgraduate studies, dissertation in collaboration with a foreign institution or foreign professors).  In case the General Assembly of the Department approves the preparation of the Doctoral Thesis in a foreign language, an extensive summary in Greek will be required upon its completion, to the extent determined by the Assembly of the Department.

  • Submission of a detailed CV of the candidate

E. Substantiated Research Proposal

  • Submission of the integrated scientific proposal for doctoral research. The research proposal should indicate 1) the title of the proposed topic as well as 2) an introduction, 3) main research questions and the individual objectives of the doctoral dissertation, 4) methodology, 5) theoretical and/or artistic context, 6) intended results, 7) indicative bibliography, 8) indicative timetable of completion.

G. Recognition of the equivalence of the postgraduate diploma by DOATAP (for graduates of foreign universities)

  • Submission of equivalence of DOATAP degrees (in case of graduates from foreign/non-Greek universities)

H. The following documents are also required:

  • Photocopy of identity card (both sides)
  • Copy of Undergraduate degree
  • Copy of Master’s degree
  • Transcript of Postgraduate Studies
  • Copy of the Master’s dissertation in digital and printed form, if requested by the supervisor.
  • Certification of attainment in Greek language proficiency in case of foreign candidates and foreign language proficiency (basically English without excluding other languages depending on the proposed research subject) for Greek candidates. In case of non-possession of the relevant certificate, the candidate will undergo language examinations in a manner that will be decided by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the supervisor.
  • Up to two (2) letters of recommendation from university professors or employers (only if the PhD candidate’s research proposal is relevant to the research specializations of the DPDA).

I. Existing publications or scientific papers

  • Submission of publications or scientific papers previously carried out by the candidate (if requested).
