SCHOOL OF ARTS LIBRARY – NAFPLIO BRANCH

The Library and Information Center (LIC) of the Nafplio Branch of the University of the Peloponnese serves the academic and research requirements of the School of Arts’ two constituent departments: the Department of Performing and Digital Arts (DPDA) and the Department of Theatre Studies (DTS). It is located on the 2nd floor of the Central Faculty Building in Nafplio. The facilities include a reading room (operating hours: 09:00–17:00) and a dedicated IT laboratory (operating hours: 09:00–21:00) equipped with workstations for bibliographic research, as well as multimedia and video editing.

The library’s core collections cover the following thematic areas: Theatre (Greek & International), Scenography, Costume Design, Directing, Acting, Cinema, Music, Fine Arts, Performing & Digital Arts, Literature (Greek & International), Literary Theory, Translation Theory, Theatre and Cultural Theory, Social Sciences and Humanities, Educational Sciences, and more. Additionally, the library houses an extensive audiovisual collection, including DVDs and video recordings of theatrical performances.

Users are provided with remote access to international libraries via the internet. Furthermore, all members of the academic community have full-text access to prestigious international electronic journals, databases, and e-books through the Hellenic Academic Libraries Link (HEAL-link). Free high-speed WiFi is available throughout the library premises

Specifically regarding electronic databases—including sound and image archives, digital bibliographies, or full-text journals—online access is available remotely via VPN. Alternatively, you may visit the Departmental Library or the IT Laboratory and use a USB flash drive to download material in digital format. 

For an expanded range of electronic resources, students may also consult the catalog of the Center for Hellenic Studies (CHS) Greece, Harvard University. Many sources not available directly through our Department can be accessed there. Please note that physical presence at the Center’s premises is required (📍[location link], Monday to Friday, 10:00–17:00), where you may use your own laptop or a USB drive. 

Finally, students are encouraged to explore the M&A Johnston Library of the DPDA [a donation by Paul Johnston and Sotiria Papageorgiou]. This collection features a rich selection of predominantly international fiction, essays, historical texts, illustrated albums, and scholarly studies, and is located in A3 room of the Aria Building
